Where Stockton’s lab space sits

Stockton’s lab space is spread across several kinds of buildings. Stockton’s lab space spans university and college teaching labs, hospital and clinical labs, agricultural and food testing labs, and pharmacy compounding suites, and some packaging and production plants run clean areas of their own.

None of these rooms can be cleaned like an office. Each one has a written procedure, an access process and people who notice when something on a bench has been moved, and the cleaning has to respect all three.

The procedure is the starting point

Ahead of day one, the lab manager or safety officer walks us through the room-by-room cleaning procedure. It sets which benches the crew wipes once staff have cleared them, which instruments and storage cabinets stay untouched, which products are approved for each surface and in what order the rooms are worked. The crew follows that document on every visit, and any change to it comes from your side.

Access follows your rules too. Crews arrive in the booked time slot, badge in or sign in the way your building requires and wait for an escort wherever one is needed. No one works in your building until a background check on them has cleared, an assurance that counts for rooms holding controlled substances, sample archives or unpublished research.

Benches, sinks and fume hood exteriors

In a working lab, the crew wipes cleared benchtops and shelf fronts with the product your procedure names, cleans lab sinks, faucets and the counters around them, and wipes the outside of each fume hood: sash glass, frame, airfoil and the cabinet doors below. Eyewash and safety shower housings are wiped down, waste bins for ordinary trash are emptied and relined, and paper towel and soap dispensers at the handwashing sinks are refilled.

Lab floors are usually sheet vinyl, sealed concrete or another chemical-resistant surface. They are swept and damp-mopped with the solution the lab approves, and on a set calendar they can be scrubbed or, for vinyl, stripped and refinished through floor care.

Inside a controlled room

Cleanrooms and compounding suites run on their own procedure, and the crew works inside it. Garments, gloves and shoe covers go on in the anteroom in the order the room’s gowning sheet lists. Low-lint wipers, mop heads and buckets stay dedicated to that room, and only the cleaning agents on the approved list come through the door. The crew works overhead surfaces first, then walls and fixtures, then the floor, backing out from the far, cleanest corner toward the door, and each pass is recorded on the room’s log the way your quality team wants it written.

When a room comes back from maintenance, a filter change or a shutdown, a fuller clean can be booked to the same procedure before the room returns to use.

The rest of the building

Labs sit inside buildings with offices, conference rooms, restrooms, break rooms and corridors, and those rooms are cleaned on the same visit with the tools that belong to them. Color-coded cloths and mops keep restroom and office equipment from crossing into lab space. Daytime touch-ups in lobbies and shared restrooms can be added through our day porter service, and a lab fit-out or renovation can be prepared for move-in through post-construction cleaning.

Teaching labs and the academic calendar

College and university teaching labs follow the term. During the semester they are cleaned after the last section of the evening, and the breaks between terms are the time for heavier work: every bench wiped down once students clear their stations, cabinet fronts and shelving dusted, and floors scrubbed or refinished while the rooms sit empty.

How a lab plan is priced

The quote follows a walkthrough with your lab or facilities lead. What moves the number is the count of lab rooms and controlled rooms, the time gowning adds to each entry, visit frequency for each space, how much office and support area surrounds the labs, and which floor work goes on the calendar. You get a written plan that lists each room against its procedure, along with the quote.

A few useful answers

Common questions.

Will your crew work from our lab's written cleaning procedure?

Yes. Your document decides the rooms, surfaces, approved products and sequence, and the crew works from it each time.

Which parts of a fume hood does the crew wipe?

The outside of each hood: sash glass, frame, airfoil and the cabinet fronts underneath.

Can cleaning start after the last experiment or class of the day?

Yes. Visits can run in the evening, overnight or on weekends, in a window set around your run schedule and building access.

How does the crew get ready to enter a cleanroom?

Crew members gown in the anteroom following the room’s gowning sheet, bring in only the room’s dedicated tools and approved agents, and log each clean on the room’s record.

Could the non-lab rooms in our building join the same plan?

Yes. Offices, conference rooms, restrooms and break rooms are cleaned on the same visit, with separate color-coded tools for each area.
